If you are embarrassed to be photographed because of a double chin, you need to think about how to tighten your face and neck muscles. There are many ways to reduce the second chin and even get rid of it
The main reason for a double chin is often related to our genetics. If someone in your family has a double chin, you are likely to find it too over time.
As we age our skin loses elasticity, sags, and fat accumulates under it, which becomes the cause of a double chin. The same problem may result from the peculiarities of the structure of the bones or facial anatomy. Or a combination of both.
You can, of course, spend money on complicated procedures such as lipolysis and ultrasonic radiofrequency facial treatments, but there are several natural ways to reduce a double chin.
Diet
Eating right and being active is the best advice for getting rid of chin fat. If you are overweight, try to reduce your calorie intake by cutting down on fats and sweets – choose healthy foods high in protein and vegetables. Foods containing healthy fats such as fish (salmon and mackerel), nuts (almonds and walnuts), seeds and avocados promote collagen production and give your skin a youthful glow.
Physical activity
Exercise also increases your body’s caloric intake, which helps you lose weight and, as a result, get rid of double chins. Walking, jogging, dancing or swimming will definitely help you.
Moreover, diet and exercise will benefit your whole body, not just your chin.
Exercise
Skin care experts suggest several exercises and yoga techniques to tone neck muscles, tighten skin and reduce wrinkles. The goal of regular exercise is to relax the muscles of your face, neck and décolletage area.
Here are 5 exercises that will help to get rid of the second chin. Try to be as consistent as possible and do each of these facial exercises morning and night to get results.
– Muscle stretching. Place your fingertips on your collarbone. Lift your chin toward the top and press with your fingers to feel the neck muscles stretch. Hold that position for 5 seconds, then return to the starting position. Repeat the exercise five times.
– Fist exercise. Clench a fist with one hand and place your chin on the fist. Slowly open and close your mouth, pressing down with your fist to create resistance to your jaw so that your neck muscles work against it. Repeat the exercise 5 times.
– Tongue exercise. Open your mouth wide and stick your tongue out with force to feel your jaw muscles working. Hold the tongue out for 5 seconds, then return to the starting position. Repeat this exercise five times.
– Ball exercise. Place a tennis ball under your chin. Lower your chin while pressing it against the ball. Do 25 to 30 repetitions daily.
– Exercise with chewing gum. As strange as it may sound, chewing gum can be one of the easiest and most effective ways to get rid of excess chin fat. When you chew chewing gum, you are repeating exercises for your facial and chin muscles and removing excess fat. This exercise also lifts your chin and strengthens your jaw muscles.
Lymphatic drainage massage
If you can’t do weekly facials and prefer not to spend money on expensive treatments, a lymphatic drainage massage at home is an easy way to reduce facial swelling and a second chin.
In addition, facial massage is a great way to relieve jaw tension. It tones and tightens muscles, promotes the outflow of lymph, which makes the skin look firmer and the double chin less pronounced.
Lymphatic drainage massage with circular movements is aimed at improving blood circulation, eliminating toxins and reducing fluid retention on the face. We have many lymph nodes along the jaw line, so by massaging from the chin up to the ear, you help the lymphatic drainage process. When we massage the face, we increase blood flow to the area we’re working on, which in turn increases the amount of oxygen and nutrients getting into the skin, as well as promoting collagen production.
Lift your head up and, starting from the center at the base of the neck, apply the cream in swift movements upward to the center of the chin. Then move to the right side of the neck, using the same technique, moving to the chin line.
Then place the joint of your index finger under the jaw line and the joint of your middle finger over the jaw line, so that your two fingers form a V (you must pinch the skin between the joints). Run your knuckles with decent pressure from the base of your chin up to your earlobes, then go over the base of your neck. Do this five times on each side.
Lymphatic drainage massage should be done 3 times a week.
